I was on Mashable looking at social network startups and I found two that I loved (and never heard of before). So I’m going to do a couple of mini reviews on the two.
1. chi.mp chi.mp isn’t really a social network. It’s described as a content hub/identity management platform.
How it works: When you sign up for chi.mp, they give you a free domain name. i.e. wiphey.mp The point of it is to help you own your online identity. You can create personas for different groups. It comes with Public, Work, and Friends.
You can store all of your social networking information, plus addresses and phone numbers, which is particularly useful to me during those times when people ask what networks I’m on. It also has a v-card export feature.
You can customize your background, link colors, and favicons. You can also have a theme for each persona.
2. thisMoment.com thisMoment is a way to share moments with family and friends. You can sign up using your Facebook.
How it works: A moment is a collection of photos/videos and text. You can either make a single moment or a group of moments. You can also tell how the moment made you feel. Next, you can tell when the moment happened. They even give an option for future moments. After you create your moment, tag people, and add pictures and videos (they support flickr, facebook, picasa, youtube…), you are given the option to rate the moment on a scale from small moment to big moment.
After you save the moment, it shows up as a very nice slideshow by default. It also has a thumbnail view and a mosaic view. You can also choose who can see the updates (public, family, friends). My timeline is below.
Well that’s it! Hope you enjoyed this.
